In the year 1904 W & T [William & Thomas] Avery invented Weighing Scale and formed the Company W & T Avery Limited. A UK based company, situated in Foundry Lane, Smethwick, West Midlands, B66
2LP Birmingham, England.
In June 2000, the merger of Weigh-Tronix and Avery Weigh-Tronix brought together some of the best known and longest-established companies in the weighing industry.
The consolidation of the group was finally completed in September 2003, when the change of name to Avery Weigh-Tronix created a single corporate entity to service today’s global markets.
In October 1961 a branch of W& T. Avery Ltd was established in Ghana, then situated at South Labadi Industrial estate to look after the thousands of Avery platform scales already in the country especially the
Cocoa industry. The presence of these platform scales in the remotest villages of the cocoa growing areas is well known.
In August 1971 Avery Ghana Limited was incorporated initially with a 35% Ghanaian shareholding. In 1976 the Ghanaian shareholding increased to 50% and since then Ghanaians and the foreign partners have
equal shares. The company is presently situated at east Tesano, Opposite the National Police Training School.
The company’s national service network provides repair and maintenance support for its own and other manufacturers’ weighing and IT-based equipment.
A state-of-the art national response centre, strategically located service centres and more than 20 field-based technicians provide fast local service 24 hours, 365 days a year.
Avery Ghana Limited is made up of six office staff and twenty workshop staff whose educational background do not fall below HND. Apart from the training given them locally our mother company in the UK
also upgrades them periodically.
Avery Ghana Limited works for most companies throughout the length and breath of the country and even goes beyond to our neighbouring countries like Togo, Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Ivory
Coast.
